The Pomeroy High School Lady Pirates brought home a third-place trophy from the State Tournament in Spokane last week, their hopes of making a third consecutive appearance in the championship game derailed by an upset loss to league rivals Oakesdale on Friday. The Lady Pirates, coached by Head Coach Tai Bye, at left, finished with a 23-2 overall record. In helping the Lady Pirates to the third-place trophy, Maddy Dixon (30), shown here being double teamed by Oakesdale, culminated her high-school basketball career with 64 points and 29 rebounds over the three-day tournament.
