CHEWELAH–Three Pomeroy High School cross country competitors ran their best at a District 7 All-League Meet here Saturday, September 28.

Pirate Evan Bartels finished sixty-sixth in the field of 107 with a time of 21:01, with teammates Cash Copher coming in 98th in 25:27 and Aidan Knuteson 99th in 25:33. The meet was won by Easton Pomrankey of Kettle Falls in 16:52.

The team ran last Tuesday at a District 7/9 South Meet at Valley Christian, located at Plantes Ferry Park, Spokane Valley, Wash. The next meet will be October 17 at the Kyle Burnside Wildhorse Invitational, Mission, Ore.

Bartels clocked a 20:56.15 time at the Third Annual Nike-Battle for the 509 meet at the Fairways Golf Course near Medical Lake. His time placed him 184th in a field of 191 from 26 schools. The winner, Jacob Easton, finished in 15:23.84.

A District 7 League Meet – South, held Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Colfax Golf Club, Bartels finished 36th in the field of 53 runners and seven teams. Bartels’s time was 21:26.


Teammate Cash Copher finished 45th with 23:33; Samuel Lamb, 48, 26:01; Knuteson, 49, 26:33 and Nick Bryson, 50, 30:31.

Kolby Slate of Colfax finished first in 17:31. Asotin topped team totals with 30 points.
