OLYMPIA–Governor Jay Inslee recently appointed Michelle Liberty of Walla Walla, to the Walla Walla Community College Board of Trustees, replacing Darcey Fugman-Small whose term ended after eight years of dedicated service.

A member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, Liberty grew up in northeastern Oregon, attended Reed College, Linfield College, and Portland State University, before spending six years in Paris and London. After a stint working in marketing and advertising for both domestic and international agencies, Liberty returned to her Oregon roots, taking the position of Marketing Director for Wildhorse Resort and Casino. Liberty has lived in Walla Walla since 1998 and is the owner of Attitude, Inc., a marketing consulting firm.

An active member of the community, Liberty is a member of the Walla Walla County Planning Commission, the Blue Mt. Humane Society Board of Directors, Eastern Oregon Visitors Association Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee of the Network of Exceptional Women. Past volunteer positions include Providence St. Mary Medical Center Community Board, Brand Oregon Advisory Board (Governor appointment), Washington State Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Advisory Committee (Governor appointment), Walla Walla Valley YWCA Board, and the Pendleton Public Schools Strategic Action Planning Team.


Michelle Liberty's term runs through September 30, 2024.
