A Teen's Take

POMEROY–Law enforcement is a career I think I would like to pursue because it helps people and communities. When I tell people I am interested in this field, they ask me why I would consider such a thing. I think careers like police officer and teacher are so under-appreciated, but so very vital to betterment of life. When a person works in one of these areas, they impact lives by changing them or saving them.

In school last year for our English final, we were asked to do a slideshow presentation on a career we might want to pursue. I did mine on being a homicide detective. I loved every minute of researching what kind of things they did and what it took to achieve that level.

After I gave the presentation, we were able to share why this type of profession is important. I see that these men and women go out every day and do their share to serve and protect our community.

I love the idea of working as a cop, and even though my reasons might change over the next few years, I know my heart is set on law enforcement. I wish more people wanted to do something to help their community and country because it’s a place worth fighting for.

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and have all of their Christmas shopping done!
