Five Pirates named to All-State VB team

Maddy Dixon was named to the All-State First Team with a 95% serve percentage, 48 aces, 368 kills, 204 blocks.

SEATTLE–Maddy Dixon, Sydney Watko, Jaden Steele, Heidi Heytvelt and Alyssa Wolf, all members of the 2019 1B State Champion Pomeroy Lady Pirate Volleyball team, have been honored by being named to the Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association All-State team.

Heidi Heytvelt was named to the All-State First Team with a 97% serve percentage, 44 aces, 567 assists, 160 digs.

All athletes were nominated and voted on by members of the Coaches Association. Players named All Conference in their league are eligible and names placed on the ballot.

Dixon, Watko, Steele and Heytvelt were named to the First Team, according to Coach Amy Smith, with Wolf receiving an Honorable Mention.

Dixon's stats for the 2019 season included a 95% serve percentage, 48 aces, 368 kills and 204 blocks.

Heytvelt was also a leader with a 97% serve percentage, 44 aces, 567 assists and 160 digs.

Steele notched a 93% serve percentage a team-high 53 aces, 99 kills and 81 digs.

Watko's numbers were an impressive 88% serve percentage, 29 aces, 106 kills and 105 digs.


Honorable Mention Wolf was both an offensive and defensive force, serving 975 with 45 aces, and notching 197 digs.
