A Teen's Take

April 16, 2020

POMEROY–We now have experienced how much life has changed since the start of the COVID-19 isolate-in-place and closure of businesses. I have seen how difficult it has been on some people and realize how traumatic this thing is on our community. It was quick, unexpected and from what was said on TV, in the papers and explained to us by our community leaders, frightening. Even though our daily routine has flipped like a pancake and the only thing we can do is make the best of it by staying at home or if you have a job that is essential, go to work.

For me, the hardest thing about all of this is the worrying. I worry for the more vulnerable, those who are still working, people I love and even myself. It’s hard to imagine what it would be like if someone close to me got sick. That’s why I think we should take every free minute and spend it with friends and family over the phone or playing a game with your family.

So, while we are in our homes for another month, this is a prime time to focus on family, and since it is Spring, work on inside and outside projects. These types of things build memories and help make everyone feel not so afraid.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter while enjoying the better weather.
