Valedictorian Speech

Alyssa Wolf

First, I would like to thank you all for coming. This year has been a whirlwind and I would like to start by thanking everyone who has helped get us through it.

Thank you to all our families and friends for supporting us through this. Thank you to our teachers who have been working tirelessly to get us through online learning and also for giving us a great four years. Thank you to our advisors for checking up on us every week. Thank you to all the people who work in the office for always being upbeat and making us smile. Thank you to the community for being so supportive in everything we do.

We are so lucky to be surrounded by people who care about us and want to see us succeed. And lastly thank you to Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Gwinn, and Mrs. McGreevy for making this graduation happen. We are all so thankful to be able to be here celebrating together.

As a class, we have had a lot of success in sports, clubs, and school. We've been to state and placed in volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, golf, and track with seven state championships. We've also participated in state competitions in FBLA and FFA and had success in those events too.

Unfortunately, our last chance to succeed in those things was taken. We lost our last sports seasons, our last trips to state in FFA or FBLA, our last prom, and our last three months together in high school. We will never walk the halls again and there is no way to get back the time that we lost.

But focusing on what we lost won't get us where we want to be. We all have different plans for after high school, but I am confident that we will all be successful in whatever we choose to do because what we have learned in these last three months will help us more in life than any text book.

We learned to be strong and persevere through adversity. We learned to never give up on hope and fight for what we want. And last but not least, we learned that we are strong enough to get through anything life throws at us.

Everybody tells us we are making history, and although it's hard to find the silver lining right now, someday we can pass on the lessons we learned from this to future generations.

I am sincerely grateful to be graduating with all of you and I cannot wait to see where life takes us. So congrats, Class of 2020, we made it.
