POMEROY–The 2020 Garfield County Fair is being restructured due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A youth livestock show and sale will be held in its place on September 17-19.

Attendance will be limited to pre-registered exhibitors and household members, Garfield County Fair Board members, Garfield County Market Sale Association members, and support staff, but will not be open to the general public. All entrants will be required to wear a mask and a no Touch temperature checks will be taken at the gate.

Each exhibitor is allowed one animal to show and Market Steers, Market Hogs and Market Sheep will be shown along with Breeding Sheep and Little Partner calves. Each classification will be judged by weight for market classes. Exhibitors will also compete in showmanship classes which are divided by age.

Showing times will be staggered to limit congregation. Exhibitors and household members are asked to leave the premises when finished with their show time.

Any exhibitor who previously weighed in an animal but is uncomfortable with the live show is eligible to enter that animal virtually by producing a video to submit.

The plan for the show and sale has been approved by the Garfield County Health Department and the Garfield County Commissioners.
