Ashlyn Deatherage, Customer Representative with the Bank of Eastern Washington, left, received a $5,000 donation from Susie Bowles, right, and daughters Heather and Erika Bowles (not pictured), for the renovation of the City Park Gazebo. The donation was made in the memory of husband, father and former Garfield County Sheriff, the late Larry Bowles.

POMEROY–A City Park make-over and Gazebo restoration project donation of $5,000 was presented to the Bank of Eastern Washington customer representative Ashlyn Deatherage by Susie Bowles on Oct. 7, 2020.

Bowles and daughters, Heather and Erika Bowles, decided together to make the donation in honor of Larry Bowles, because the gazebo holds such fond memories of their late husband and father. The former Garfield County Sheriff spent more than 30 years performing as the master of ceremonies for the Fourth of July and National Night Out festivities held at the park. He would conduct raffles and prize drawings, using the Gazebo as the stage, as well as entertain with his singing. It is important to the Bowles family to maintain such an iconic structure at the Pomeroy City Park.

The Bank of Eastern Washington has generously offered to collect the donations at no charge. Deatherage, who has been instrumental in setting up and managing the fund, accepted the donation on the project's behalf. The estimated cost for the Save the Gazebo and City Park makeover is $25,000. With this $5,000 donation, the total funds collected to date is approximately $16,000.
