Pirates notch first win

Buccanneer defenders Braedyn White (25) and Trevin Kimball (42) put the stop on Wilbur-Creston's ball carrier, Nathan Wheeler (15), in action from Feb. 19's win over the WC Wildcats, the first football action for the Pirates since the pre-pandemic days of late 2019. It was a chilly one as evidenced by the snowy turf, but the Pirates, on strong performances by Trent Gwinn, Trevin Kimball and Colton Slaybaugh, dominated WC 34-24. The Pirates host Wellpinit tonight, Feb. 25. Pirates Trace Roberts (88), Gwinn (13) and Troy Steele (44) are also pictured.

WILBUR, WASH.–The Pomeroy Pirates rallied with 20 second-half points to pull off a 43-24 win over Wilbur-Creston here Friday in the first football contest played since the fall of 2019.

The Pirates host Wellpinit today, February 25, in the second game of the five-game virus-adjusted season.
