POMEROY–It was a runaway last week as the Pirates pummeled the visiting Wellpinit Redskins 82-0.

The next game was March 3 at Tekoa-Rosalia at Rosalia; story to appear next week. The Pirates sail to Rosalia to face Tekoa-Rosalia at 2 p.m. March 9.

“Overall, I was pleased with our boys’ intensity on offense and relentlessness on defense,” said Coach Kyle Kimble. “Our kids played well all around.”

Pomeroy scored 11 touchdowns, Trent Gwinn notching five and Jesse Mings three as the Bucs amassed 465 total yards of offense to Wellpinit’s 48, 429 of it rushing. Gwinn packed the mail 15 times for 228 yards, a 15.2 average and four touchdowns. Jesse Mings carried eight for 110 yards, a 13.8 average. Colton Slaybaugh rushed for 50 yards on six carries and Noah Lamb gained 41 on five carries.

Pirate defense stifled the visitors, holding them to 35 yards rushing and 13 yards through the air. Jesse Mings counted five solo tackles, Braedon Fruh, Gwinn, Lamb, and Troy Steele three; Braedyn White and Jakob Blachly a pair and Colton Slaybaugh, Trevin Kimble, Richie Vecchio and Oliver Severs one each.

Damaging to the Redskin’s offense were four lost fumbles, five penalties costing 35 yards, and an intercepted pass returned for a touchdown by Gwinn.
