ST. JOHN–Pomeroy Cross Country boys team finished fourth here February 27, but not before four Pirate runners notched personal bests. At the first meet Feb. 24 in Pomeroy, the boys team finished third.

The Pirates ran at Rosalia last Tuesday, and hit the trail at noon Saturday, March 6, at St. John. The championship meet will be in Pomeroy at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 10.

"Our boys team ran a good 3.1-mile race in windy conditions, muddy, and uneven terrain surrounding St. John's Webb Slough Racing Course," commented Coach Greg Sharp. "Personal Bests were made by senior Nick Vendeland, sophomore Trevin Walton, sophomore Brady Bott, and sophomore Jaden Slusser."

The team scored 95 for fourth behind Touchet 74, SJE 34 and Valley Christian 29.

Vendeland was 21st with 21:14. Walton finished 25th in 22:15; Cash Copher, 36, 25:16; Brady Bott, 37, 25:42; Samuel Lamb, 38, 26:19; Slusser, 42, 30:16.

Middle School's boys team finished first and the girls second in the 1.5 mile meet.
