ODESSA–From the opening kickoff, it was a runaway and it was all the Pomeroy Pirates could do to hang on. The Odessa Tigers were a force to be reckoned with in this 94-6 Pirate loss here March 9, but Pomeroy can boast it scored one of the two touchdowns against the Tigers this season.

Pomeroy's Saturday contest against St. John-Endicott-LaCrosse was canceled and a make-up game scheduled for Monday, March 15, against the Clarkston High School Junior Varsity. Results of that game will be reported next week.

The game against the Jayvee Bantams will be the final game of the covid football schedule, according to Head Coach Kyle Kimble.

The Pirates had no answer for senior running back Pilot Weishaar, who rushed for 352 yards on 14 carries for a 25.1 average and six touchdowns. He punched in five two-point conversions.

When Weishaar wasn't packing the mail, Daeton Deife got the nod with seven touches for 94 yards and three touchdowns.

Senior quarterback Jett Nelson threw a little, connecting on three of four passes for 155 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

Pomeroy's single touchdown was scored on a kick return by Trent Gwinn, just as the first half was drawing to a close.

The Tigers ripped off 40 points in the first quarter and kept up a steady pace with 24 points in the second stanza, 16 in the third quarter and another 14 on top of that in the fourth.

Odessa has been impressive this season, trouncing Republic 78-0, St. John-Endicott-Lacrosse 102-8, Tekoa-Rosalia 74-0 and Wellpinit 98-0.
