Middle School hoops' exciting win

The Pomeroy Middle School Varsity Girls Basketball team celebrated after a basket in the final seconds of the game secured a 30-27win over Tekoa-Rosalia March 22.

ROSALIA–The Pomeroy Middle School Varsity Girls Basketball team downed the Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves 30-27, in the first basketball game played here since the virus shut down interscholastic athletics Monday, March 22 at Rosalia.

The Junior High Girls B Team won 32-25. Scoring was Carmen Fruh 4, Carolina Morphin 6, Kendall Potoshnik 14, Molly Warren 4, Caroline McKeirnan 4. Also playing Hailey Reisinger, Josephine Watson, Lily Kinsell, Michealle DeBord.

"Everyone was excited to finally be able to participate in a group sport!" commented J.V. Coach Jennifer Maves. "This is a young and unexperienced team and they have great potential. It will be fun to see how the season unfolds. They were very happy to start the season with a win!"

Oakesdale defeated Pomeroy 34-30 on March 24. Scoring was Taylor Gilbert 8, Allyson Shaffer 4, Grace Hart 4, Ellie Potoshnik 4, Izzy field 8, and Elisabeth Carrol 4.

The Varsity fell to St. John-Endicott-LaCrosse 28-26 March 26. Scoring was Kiersten Bartles 7, Taylor Gilbert 5, Allyson Shaffer 6, Grace Hart 1, Izzy Field 7.

"Both games were very close," commented Coach Jessica Wolf. "The girls are working so hard. Two more games left this season. It is great to be in the gym with these girls every day. Everyone is learning and growing."
