POMEROY–The Garfield County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) signed an interlocal agreement with Jamestown Networks (JNET) for installation and service of an internet and voice over internet phone system for the County Courthouse at their meeting on May 3.

County Engineer Grant Morgan gathered information, communicated between the departments involved, and worked to bring the agreement to fruition.

The BOCC passed Resolution 2021-11, transferring $25,000 from the current expenses fund to the fair fund. This transfer was needed because the fairgrounds has seen a significant drop in revenue, as well as not receiving the usual funds from the state, due to the cancellation of last year's fair.

The Voluntary Stewardship Program (VSP) has $50,000 dollars each for the next two years to devote to projects. VSP has funded updates to GPS systems on farming equipment, pastureland spraying, and tree planting. Vegetation management a major part of their focus, but Commissioner Justin Dixon announced the state is wanting to focus on water management as well.

Garfield County Sheriff Drew Hyer is working with the Lewiston SWAT team to add Garfield County Deputy Adam Dispenza to their roster and training program. Sheriff Hyer believes having a SWAT trained officer will make cooperation between the law enforcement offices smooth.
