Ledgerwood Farms awarded hay bid

Rep. Joe Schmick, R-9, Colfax, joined the Garfield County Commissioners' meeting this week on May 24, 2021, to hear of current concerns and discussed how his position and influence can help bring focus to this area.

POMEROY–The Garfield County Commissioners (BOCC) opened and read two bids for the hay crop for the Garfield County Fairgrounds at their meeting on May 24. The winning bid was submitted by Ledgerwood Farms at $90 a ton.

State Rep. Joe Schmick, R-9, Colfax, attended the meeting hearing the commissioners' current concerns. Schmick will work on getting state funding for county infrastructure improvements, as well as use his influence to promote careful evaluation of all causes of concern on the issue of dams and salmon.

Danica Gwinn of Quality Behavioral Health (QBH) expressed the number of people utilizing their programs is up across the board and they have a media campaign planned to increase awareness of their services. They also have a summer youth program focused on incorporating fun events with educational sessions planned for the middle of June. It is for children currently in six, seven, and eighth grade with a cap at 50 kids. Busses will transport participating children from Pomeroy to the LC Valley, but the plans are subject to change based on state guidelines and mandates.

Garfield County Sheriff Drew Hyer announced that he is expecting partial to complete reimbursement for both officers he sent to the Spokane Police Academy from the Criminal Justice Training Center.

Monica Bartlow accepted the position as Board of Equalization Clerk.

Shaniece Korrell has been promoted to the Maintenance 1 position, and Conni Landkammer will be offered a regularly scheduled part-time position as the daily custodian of the courthouse.
