Roger Pedersen shares a moment with Pomeroy Assist board member Rachel Anderson after receiving his plaque of appreciation for the many years of service to this humble community.

POMEROY–Pomeroy Assist: Garfield County Humanitarian Services awarded Roger Pedersen a plaque expressing their deep appreciation for his generous and long-time service to Pomeroy during the board meeting on June 17.

Pedersen was born and raised in Seattle and received undergraduate schooling from Edmonds Christian College in Edmonds, Wash., located just north of Seattle. He received his Doctorate and Master's degrees from Emanuel Christian Seminary in Johnson City, Tenn. After graduating the Seminary, he and his wife Patti ministered in Monmouth Ore., and a short stint in Maple Valley Wash., before settling in Pomeroy on July 1, 2007 to pastor the First Christian Church.

Retiring after 14 years of serving this community, the Pedersens will be moving to Corvallis, Ore., to be with their grandkids.

"It has been an honor to be here, and to be a part of everything you do here," Pedersen told the Pomeroy Assist Board.

His plaque is inscribed with the words: 'In appreciation to Roger Pedersen. For your many years of service to the citizens of Pomeroy.'

He and his wife will leave our community with our heartfelt thanks, and our best wishes for their future.
