POMEROY–The Pomeroy Gun Club members enjoyed some success at the Troy-Deary Gun Club's Fourth of July Shoot and the more recent Western Zone Shoot at Colton Gun Club. The Western Zone Shoot is a Satellite Shoot where 14 different Western clubs host competition and all the shooters at those sites compete against each other. The local Club also provides Trophies for the shooters at that site.

Holly Ledgerwood was the Lady singles Champion at Troy-Deary posting scores of 94 and 97 in the singles for a score of 191. In the 200 Doubles, Larry Bunch posted scores of 87 and 95 which was good enough for the "B" class Hardware.

At the Western Zone Shoot on Friday Bunch broke a 96 in singles that was high for Senior Veterans and Terry John posted a 94 in the Veteran Category. In Handicap Bunch had a 91 which won him the Long Yardage honors and Terry had an 87. Bunch also was the Senior Vet Winner in the Doubles event.

On Saturday the program included 200 singles and 100 Handicap targets and Holly again shot very well with scores of 95 and 94 in singles for a 189X200 and Lady II Honors. Terry John had a 93 and 97 for a 190 in the Veteran category and Larry Bunch had a 90 and 94 in the Senior Vet Category. Robert Koller had an 86 in the first 100 Targets and then broke one more target than his age in the second 100 with a 93 for a 179X200. Kenneth Evans who was raised in Coulee City and is the nephew of the Late Rod Carey a former Pomeroy resident was able to break all 300 singles targets over the two days. Kenneth was also the Washington State singles Champion at the State Shoot in Walla Walla with a 200X200 score. When he was asked if that made him 500 straight over two shoots, he replied that he had went to a shoot on the Coast and had missed a couple. It has still been a very impressive run for him.

In Saturday's Handicap Terry John broke a 90 which tied him for Veteran Honors and Bunch posted an 87.

Bunch posted a 90 in the Championship Doubles on Sunday which was Runner-up in the Senior Veteran division. In Handicap Terry continued his good shooting with a 91 which won him the Mid Yardage Trophy and Bunch posted an 88.

Malden-Pine City has a shoot this coming Sunday July 25.
