POMEROY–Garfield County's National Night Out event was held at the Pomeroy City Park on August 3. It was aimed at familiarizing the community with its law enforcement personnel, and saw a full, steady turnout. The Garfield County Sheriff's Department was present, as well as the County Fire District and officers from the Washington State Patrol. "We were asked to come support the community." Jake Grandstaff of the State Patrol said. "We are glad to serve the communities we work in."

GCSO Deputy Adam Dispenza announces the next number for the game of bingo.

A GCFD fire engine driven by firefighter Kyson Fruh gave rides complete with sirens to eager children, while a GCSD patrol car and a GCFD ambulance were open for viewing. Tables representing local and nearby entities including Garfield County Hospital District, and Asotin County Community Services were set up on the grass and Daniel Mark Fuller out of Lewiston, Id., provided music. Other booths included the Garfield County Fair Board, First Step Internet, Pomeroy Partners for Healthy Families, and Inland Cellular.

A bingo game overseen by Sheriff's Deputy Adam Dispenza and raffles drawn intermittently throughout the evening provided prizes.
