Health District to hire new health officer

POMEROY–The Garfield County Health District board of directors hired Daniel Kaminsky, M.D. of Walla Walla as the District health officer. Dr. Kaminsky is a retired OBGYN. The Health District also hired Lewis Neace, D.O. as a back-up health officer. Dr. Neace is Columbia County’s health officer.

The Health District also passed Resolution 2021-23 establishing the 2021-22 Tobacco Prevention Contract with the Benton Franklin Health District, as well as Resolution 2021-22 which creates an amendment to the Consolidated Contract that increases the Covid-19 funding in several areas with a total of $121,505. This contract lasts until December 31, 2021, at which time it will regenerate into a 2022 contract that begins anew.

The Foundation of Public Health Services has released a second lot of $50,000 to fund the Health District, which brings their current amount of funds received from FPHS in 2021 to $100,000.


The Health District announced that testing supplies are running low, so they are discussing options with the Garfield County Hospital District.
