POMEROY–Garfield County voters will receive their ballots for the 2021 General Election this week, according to County Auditor McKinzie Lueck.

The vote-by-mail ballots are to be delivered to the post office on Friday, October 15.

The General Election will determine the next federal, state and local offices and state advisory votes.

County and City offices on the ballot are: Nonpartisan City Council member incumbent James D. Harris, No. 4; incumbent Susie Bowles, No. 5; Garfield County Fire District No. 1 Commissioner incumbent Terry E. John; two candidates for Hospital District Commissioner No. 1 incumbent Chris Herres and challenger Sherry Ledgerwood; Hospital District Commissioner No. 2 incumbent Erica Stallcop; Port of Garfield Commissioner No. 2 incumbent Matt Herres; Port of Garfield Commissioner No. 3 incumbent Larry J. Scoggin; Pomeroy School District No. 110 School Director position No. 2 incumbent Geremy D. Nelson; Pomeroy School District No. 110 Director position At Large 4 incumbent Kyle J. Pearson; School District 250 Director No. 4 incumbent No. 4; and School District 250 Director No. 5 incumbent Russ A. Davis.

Included in this election are three Advisory Votes which are:

Advisory Vote No. 36, Engrossed Second Substitute House Bill 1477: The legislature imposed, without a vote of the people, a 988 behavioral health crisis response and suicide prevention tax on telephone lines, costing $432,000,000 in its first ten years, for government spending.

Advisory Vote No. 37, Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5096: The legislature imposed, without a vote of the people, a 7% tax on capital gains in excess of $250,000, with exceptions, costing $5,736,000,000 in its first ten years, for government spending.

Advisory Vote No. 38, Second Substitute Senate Bill 5315: The legislature imposed, without a vote of the people, a tax on captive insurers in the amount of 2% of premiums form owners/affiliates, costing $53,000,000 in its first ten years, for government spending.
