POMEROY–How tournament play will go after the regular volleyball and football seasons has been charted, according to Athletic Director Toddette McGreevy.

The Southeast 1B volleyball is divided into two divisions, the Grape Division and the Wheat Division, and the top four teams from each division will play in the tournament, set for the first week in November. Games will be played at the court of the higher seed.

Three teams from the SE 1B league will go to the state tournament, McGreevy said.

In the first round on Tuesday, November 2, first-place Grape plays Wheat No. 4, Wheat 2 goes against Grape 3, Wheat 1 will face Grape 4, and Grape 3 is versus Wheat 3. Matches will start at 6 p.m.

The next round will be Thursday, November 4, the four winning teams will play at 6 p.m. at the site of the higher seed. The winner of match one will face the winner of match two, and winner of match three will go against the winner of match 4.


The two winners will battle it out on Saturday, November 6, at a neutral site with the time to be announced. McGreevy expects the site will be WWCC's Dietrich Dome.

In the consolation bracket, first-round losers will duke it out, at the site of the higher seed on November 4, game time 6 p.m., loser out. The winning squads will go up against the second-round losing teams at the neutral site, times to be announced, on November 6.

State volleyball is played November 11-12 at Yakima's Sundome.

In the tie-breaker draw, Pomeroy drew number two behind St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse. Third is Tekoa-Rosalia, fourth is Colton, Oakesdale is fifth and Garfield-Palouse is sixth in the tie-breaker draw.

Of the volleyball teams in the Grape Division, Touchet got first, DeSales second, third is Yakama Nation Tribal School, Prescott is fourth, Sunnyside Christian fifth and Liberty Christian in sixth.

Two teams from the SE 1B football league will go to state the weekend of November 12-13, McGreevy said. In case of a tie, the first tie breaker is how a team fared in head-to-head play. Other tie breakers may be determined by number draw.

Pomeroy drew the number one spot in the football tie breaker drawing. DeSales is second, Liberty Christian third, fourth is Tekoa-Rosalia, fifth is Touchet, Yakama Nation sixth and Sunnyside Christian is seventh.
