Voting tabulation system test results accurate

October 21, 2021

POMEROY–Garfield County Auditor McKenzie Lueck performed a logic and accuracy test on the courthouse’s voting tabulation system on October 12. A test matrix was created by a hypothetical election result and test ballots. The matrix included the number of votes cast for each candidate, pre-determined double votes, and sections where the vote was not filled in. The test results matched the matrix exactly, indicating that the system is clear of errors and tampering.

The system used by Garfield County is Hart Verity 2.5, and is also used in several other Washington counties. The test was observed by Les Bowen and Jessica Sell, two certification and training program specialists from the Secretary of State office, Jamie Carothers, chair of the Democratic Party of Garfield County, and this reporter.
