Outstanding warrants for payment canceled at County Commissioner meeting

October 28, 2021

POMEROY–The Garfield County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) canceled outstanding warrants at their meeting on October 25. The warrants are three payments that were issued but were not claimed.

BOCC clerk Donna Deal explained that such unclaimed warrants happen from time to time, perhaps a doubled payment or such. If the warrants are not canceled by the end of the year, the IRS will claim them.

The raise negotiation with the Garfield County Employment Group was continued with the employees accepting the medical offer extended by the board at their last meeting. The group was satisfied with the Public Employee Benefit Board insurance and the long term care insurance, but they are responding to the 4.5% raise with a request for 6%. The ball is now in the board’s court.
