Walton, Bott and Copher qualify for XC Regionals

POMEROY––Three Pirate Cross Country Team members, running in the SE 1B Championships here October last Friday, qualified for the District 7/9 Regional XC Meet in Colfax this Saturday.

Pirate XC runners Trevin Walton, Brady Bott and Cash Copher will compete in the Regional meet, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Colfax Golf Course. The boys event will begin at 1:45 p.m.

"Trevin Walton, Brady Bott, and Cash Copher have all run well this season considering injuries/sickness," commented Head Coach Greg Sharp. "I look forward to seeing them run this Saturday at Regionals in Colfax."

Walton led Pirate harriers, finishing in 12th place with a time of 22:32.2. Bott trailed by a few minutes, coming in 15th in the field of 22 with a 25:17.7 time. Copher crossed the finish line about a minute after Bott, finishing 17th with a 26:15.1 time.

Leading the boys was Gar-Pal's Kieran Scekvik, who finished in 19:08.5

Also competing were Middle School girls and boys.

Middle School Girls' Haven Kimble finished the 1.5-mile course in 14:48.8. First place was won by Rori Weber of Colton in a time of 1:49.6.

Pomeroy's Evan Thomas came in 8th in the Middle School Boys cross country event. His time was 10:44.8. Teammate Oscar Dispenza was 16th in 12:19.2.

"Evan Thomas and Haven Kimble both got their best times of the season," Sharp said. "Oscar Dispenza came close to getting his best time as well. All ran very well in the wet and rainy conditions around the golf course."
