New wolf activity in Columbia County

DAYTON–New wolf activity in Columbia County is being reported between the Touchet and Tucannon packs to the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), finding one, and a probable second depredated calf in that area as recent as November 1, 2021.

It has been reported by local beef producers of calf injury and death due to wolf attack in late summer August 25, September 13, October 16 and again on November 1, 2021. Since, WDFW, mortally wounded a male wolf in Columbia County on November 18 and a second wolf from the same pack, was legally dispatched on December 9.

Other collared and uncollared wolf fatalities by vehicle occurred on November 5, and again December 9.

WDFW has documented eight wolf mortalities on 2021.
