POMEROY––The Lady Bucs clobbered SJEL 65-30 Saturday after a hard 40-26 loss to Gar-Pal Friday.

Yakama Nation is their next opponent Dec. 18 at home, then Liberty Christian on Dec. 20 and Colton on Dec. 22, both away.

"We showed up to play tonight," said Head Coach Tai Bye of the SJEL win. "It was a hard loss emotionally last night, which always makes it tough to turn around and play but my girls stepped on the court expecting to win tonight."

Keely Maves led with 40 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots, Bye said. "She was unstoppable down low," she said. Jillian Herres had a double-double: 15 points and 13 assists and five rebounds.

"We played team ball tonight, and our discipline and tempo allowed us to pull ahead early and keep pushing," Bye said.

Foul trouble and cold shooting got Pomeroy in trouble early and they couldn't fight their way out of it, Bye commented.

Herres was tough all night, despite being in foul trouble, Bye said, and scored 13. Maves had to work down low, scoring and stealing seven.

At Asotin, the Lady Bucs started slow, but chipped away and didn't give up, Bye said.

Herres was a leader, playing all 32 minutes, attacking the bucket and going to the free-throw line many times, Bye said. Maves got tagged with fouls early, but hung in there for 20 points

Bye told the team "that's what gutting out a win" looks like.
