POMEROY–The Pomeroy City Council swore in James Harris, approved Resolution 2022-1 and discussed 5th Street improvements at their meeting on January 4.

Harris, who held the City Council position last term and voted into another term, accepted the position, again, and took the oath of office. The council also approved the hiring of Lon Conahan to allow their snowplows to run day and night.

The council passed Resolution 2022-1 to re-certify their levy amount at $187,742.47, one dollar less than the amount they certified on December 7. The re-certification was necessary because of a miscommunication about the November 30 deadline. The city is able to recertify at a different amount, hence the dollar reduction.

City Crew Chief Mike Lockard met with a representative from Knox concrete to look at redoing the bridge on 5th Street as well as the crossing between the Pomeroy Jr/Sr High School and the Elementary School. Lockard also reported that with the March 31 deadline on the lighting project, they will fix the lights already installed and redo the power to them, rather than replace them.

A virtual meeting with Representative Mary Dye will be scheduled after the holidays to discuss options to persuade Lewis Clark Credit Union to remain in Pomeroy and to draw other credit unions in.
