POMEROY–The third Camas Prairie 10-week competition was the Lewiston Tribune Telephonic Shoot which proved the best for the shooters in recent History.

The competition in the Lewiston Tribune Telephonic Shoot is based on the scores of a minimum number of shooters from the total number of Shooters that compete for the particular Club. From 0-30 shooters each Club needs to submit three scores for a possible total of 75. For 30 to 40 shooters the Club needs to submit four scores that are averaged toward a score of 75. For 40 to 50 shooters the formula requires five scores and so on.

The Junior Shooters just submit their top three scores for the week. Pomeroy had 31 adult shooters on Sunday January 23 and the Club managed five perfect 25s, one of the best efforts in several years. Club scores for the weekend were as follows:

In the 12 and under category Carter Barron had the top 16-yard score with 17 of 25 and Magnus Edwards shot a score of 16. In the Handicap event Barron posted a 12 and Edwards put up an 11.

Sub Junior Braxton McKeirnan was the top shooter in that division with a 23. Close behind, Mason Garcia and Ollie Severs scored 22. In Handicap Severs and Garcia had 20s and McKeirnan shot a 19.

In the Junior division, Troy Steele was the top singles shooter with a 23 and Junior Magill had a 22. Magill and Brady Bott both had scores of 21 in Handicap.

The Adults had a great day on Sunday with Jim Adams, Brian Bingman, Kenny Bott, Butch Burgess, and Wayne Tetrick all putting up perfect 25s. Shooters that only missed one target for scores of 24 were Tracy Hanger, Lee Koller, Lee Blachly, Robert DesJardin, and Steve Brown. This gave the Club a perfect 75 for the week in the 10-week competition. In Handicap Mason Blachly, Larry Bunch, Matt Fitzgerald, and Bryan McKeirnan all posted scores of 23.

In the Continental event, Clark Capwell had a 24, and Travis Ledgerwood and Kenny Bott put up a pair of 23s. In Doubles Steve Brown was the top shooter with a 43X50 while Jim Adams had a 42 and Jeff Hannas recorded a 41.

After two weeks of the Camas Prairie shoot, the Pomeroy youth shooters were tied for seventh place in the 24-club field and the adults tied for seventeenth overall.

Shooting will resume at the local Club this coming Saturday.
