Emergency Management Hazard Mitigation Plan deadline extended

March 17, 2022

POMEROY–The Garfield County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) signed Emergency Management Grant Agreement E19-181; approved Resolution 2022-09 and accepted a signed lease with Pacificorp at the meeting on March 14.

The Emergency Management Grant Agreement E19-181 agreement is with the Washington State Military Department and extends an existing project deadline for the Emergency Management Hazard Mitigation Plan from March of 2022 to March of 2023. The extension is to allow time for the plan to be reviewed by the state.

The BOCC approved Resolution 2022-09, which certifies the federal equipment rental rates. These are the rates that the county can use to bill a federal grant for work completed by county equipment.

Pacificorp signed the lease agreement with Garfield County for placing a booster on the county’s radio tower, which is in turn leased from the Richardson family. Pacificorp’s agreement continues a standing lease with a raised rental fee. They will now pay $850 per month.

In other business, County Engineer Grant Morgan reported on the Schoolhouse Bridge on the upper Deadman. The bridge is structurally sound, but the stirrup supports have rusted and are causing cracks in the bottom of the concrete. While there is no immediate danger, the County Public Works will monitor the bridge.
