POMEROY–The Eastern Washington Agricultural Museum (EWAM) were advised that Spring Farming Days on track, a couple acquisitions had been made, ground between buildings renovation and more donations.

Spring Farming Days is coming along. Seed and fertilizer have been ordered. Hay for the animals is spoken for. The Bakers Table will be providing the lunch time meals this year. The Blue Mountain Artisan Guild will have a booth again this year. The Cup of Hope will be here providing hot and cold drinks during the day. One of the teamsters that comes every year has asked about putting on a plowing contest. The group had no problems with that so told them to go ahead.

A wheel bench was donated by Karleen Meyer. It will be here to use by Spring Farming Days. A spring wagon has been put on permanent loan at EWAM by WSU veterinary medicine. It will also be at EWAM by Spring Farming Days.

The County is going to remove the grass between the buildings and lay down a gravel base. This area will then not need the sprinkler system that is being put in the fairgrounds lawn.

Mike Hastings reported that the branding irons he had donated previously were from the Oliver Jacobsen place down by Dodge Junction. JD Morrow asked the group if they were interested in older 20-foot timbers. EWAM was offered a portable Caulkins seed cleaner treater, but was declined.

Roy Wold has completed the restoration work on two more hit and miss engines. They are in running condition and mounted on rolling chassis.

In other business, a motion was passed to pay two bills. David Ruark $16.10 for postal to ship a part to be worked on, and Roy Wold $225.37 for miscellaneous items for some hit and miss engines. The EWAM has received $265.00 in memberships since the last meeting. A form that will show the items sold by the museum has now been created. It will help the auditor in keeping records for sales tax purposes. Patti Weaver met with the county treasurer to learn more about how to read the reports that the county sends out every month. And, Nick Hastings gave a tour to his friend.

There were 14 people in attendance at the February 20 meeting in addition to Suzanne Grove, Bill Fitzgerald, JD Morrow, Nancy Ruark, Nick Hastings, Dennis Watson, Patti Weaver, Susan Morrow, David Ruark, Roy Wold, Mike Hastings, Jack Weaver, and Jay Franks.

Submitted by Jay Franks, EWAM Secretary.
