Special to the East Washingtonian

POMEROY–High School Class Reunion celebration will be held at the Dick Brown building at the Garfield County Fairgrounds and Pioneer parade on the weekend of June 10–12.

Beware, looks like an invasion of Pomeroy High School Alumni scheduled the week end of June 10–12. The folks attending their class reunions is reported to include the classes of 1956, 1962, 1963 1965, 1966, 1967, 1970. Over the past couple of years, reunions were cancelled due to Covid safety concerns, but not this year. This will be the reunion of reunions and we look forward to classmates getting caught up on the past as they look forward to the future.

In addition, graduates of 50, 60 and more years ago will be recognized at the PHS All Class Reunion held in the Dick Brown building Friday, June 10 beginning at 10 a.m. A light meal is provided with the entry fee. The event includes presentations from current PHS students and Superintendent Rachael Gwinn regarding events and achievements of the Pomeroy Schools. We are proud of our schools and look forward to sharing their challenges and successes.

Pioneer Weekend events

Friday's line-up begins with All Class Reunion at the Fairgrounds at 10 a.m. Graduates of 50, 60, and 70 years ago will be honored. An RSVP is helpful but not essential, to let us estimate the number of folks attending. You may drop an email to Wayne Davis for your RSVP. [email protected]

The social gathering event Wine and Stein will be held at the Spinners Hall at 5–11:30 p.m. Pomeroy Partners will sponsor free rides through the Garfield County Transportation, to help attendees get home safely. The bus will be parked outside the venue.

On Saturday, the day begins with the Garfield County Fair Board Breakfast at the Pomeroy Church of the Nazarene followed by the Pioneer Parade at 9:30 a.m. The Maple Hall will open for lunch options and concession at 11 a.m.–1 p.m. The Pioneer Program honoring the Elmon Blachly family is planned at the Seeley Theatre at 1 p.m.

To visit local historic venues, Garfield County Museum, Eastern Washington Agriculture Museum and the Blue Mountain Art Guild Studio, check the Community Calendar of the East Washingtonian for times.

The best way to survive an invasion is to attend the events planned and equip yourself with an experience to last a life time. We hope to see you there.
