POMEROY-The Pomeroy City Council advised of a $10,000 grant recall; authorized Mayor Paul Miller to sign lease and service contracts and discussed the booster pump station preliminary design report at their meeting on August 9.

A Blue Mountain Community Foundation grant for $10,000 has been recalled due to the funds not being spent during the grant period, which ended in June. This does not impact future award possibilities.

The council authorized Mayor Miller to sign leases with the Garfield County Port District and the Pomeroy School District for the Shepherd Baseball Fields, and with PSD for the Lybecker Football Field. The leases replace prior leases for the facilities that have lapsed and will be in place for 23 years. The odd number of years is due to a grant received by PSD for lighting that requires a lease in place for 20 years after the project’s completion, which is expected to take three years.

SJ Environmental has proposed a contract for wastewater services and training at the Pomeroy wastewater treatment plant. Their cost is $2,200 per month, and they would send representatives down twice a week for training. The council voted to authorize Mayor Miller to negotiate and sign the contract.

The Washington State Department of Health reviewed and approved the preliminary design report for the booster pump station. The next step of the project is to secure funding. The city has applied to Senator Patty Murray’s office for a grant, but there has been no official awarding yet.
