Pirates manhandle Entiat Tigers in scorefest

RITZVILLE–The Entiat Tigers were overrun by Pomeroy 60-8 in a non-league contest here September 15.

The 2-1 Pirates host league opponent Yakama Tribal Friday at Lybecker Field, kickoff at 7 p.m.

Quarterback Trevin Kimble rushed for 233 yards and three touchdowns, plus he passed to Sidney Bales for another score while the Buccaneer defense held Entiat to 184 yards of offense and sacked Tiger quarterback Landon Crutcher five times, including once in the end zone for a safety.

"We played really well early in the game," Head Coach Kyle Kimble said, "and then they made some good adjustments that slowed us down. We finally wore them down and finished the game strong."

The Pirates were leading 22-0 in the second quarter when Entiat's Christian Santos pulled in a Crutcher throw and ran for the 49-yard score. After that, Kimble broke another long run for six plus added one of his three point-after runs and the Bucs never looked back.

The Tigers' defensive adjustments came into play and both teams battled scoreless through the remaining nine minutes of the first half, Pomeroy taking a 30-8 lead into the break.

With three touchdowns on the ground and one through the air under his belt, Kimble took a breather and quarterback Sidney Bales got some snaps, finding Walker Flynn on a 46-yard touchdown pass.

Defensive adjustments paid dividends at the end of the third quarter when the Bucs caught Tiger quarterback Crutcher in the end zone for a safety.

Flynn then broke a 96-yard running play for six points to open the fourth quarter and set the running clock in motion, 44-8. Pomeroy finished the game with Brodie Magill hustling 27 yards to pay dirt and Kyzer Herres sprinting 52 yards for a rushing touchdown.

Pomeroy chalked up 548 yards of offense, 462 over the turf and 86 passing. Of Entiat's 184 yards of offense, 143 were through the air.

Kimble averaged 12.9 yards per carry and Flynn toted the pigskin five times for 110 yards and a 22.0 yards-per-carry average.

Flynn caught the one 46-yard Kimble pass for six and Bales had two receptions for 26 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Flynn led the charge with eight tackles, six solo. Trace Roberts made 7½ tackles, six alone; Kimble counted seven solo tackles; Bales tallied six; Colby Ledgerwood made five and both Ollie Severs and Jayden Slusser had 3½.
