POMEROY–The Port of Garfield County commissioners approved a quote for duct cleaning, a change to the insurance policy, and discussed a fiber point-of-presence tenant at their meeting on September 20.

The Port’s insurance policy, through the state entity pool Enduris, was updated to include $165,000 coverage for the Port fiber network. The annual fee will increase by $775.

A quote from B&F PowerVac to clean the ducts in the United States Forest Service building was approved for $5,537. The system is in need of cleaning, as the last time it was done was in 2016.

Wholesail is contracting with the Port to become a tenant of the fiber network point-of-presence, which is the cabinet where all the fiber optic lines come together and are connected to the main source of internet. A light shone on any line in the county will be visible from the point-of-presence as long as there is no break in the line. Wholesail will pay a monthly rent of $500.

The Northeast Garfield County fiber project contract is expected within the week, and the project will go out to bid for design as soon as it arrives. Petrachor has already been hired as technical advisors. The Pataha project is waiting on a cabinet to arrive before construction begins.
