Pirates dominate Eagles 86-0

The Pirates gave a clinic on eight-man football for Yakama Tribal School with a lopsided 86-0 score, holding the Eagles to a negative 49 yards of offense. Trace Roberts (88) downed a Yakama Tribal ball carrier with a solo tackle.

POMEROY––It was a long ride home for the Yakama Tribal Eagles after enduring a blistering 86-0 defeat here Friday. The Pirates racked up 38 points in the first quarter and everyone on the team got minutes on the field as the defense held Yakama to a minus 49 yards of total offense.

The Touchet Redhawks visit 3-1 Pomeroy Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Lybecker Field. Liberty Christian tops the 1B SE 8-Man standings at 3-0 with DeSales and SJEL tied for second with 2-0 records. Sunnyside Christian is 2-1 and the Pirates and Tekoa-Rosalia are tied for fourth at 1-1 in league.

"This was a total team win tonight," said Head Coach Kyle Kimble. "Everyone of our team members contributed to this win and we were pleased to see some of our young guys have a great game.  Our defense was lights-out good tonight and we played relentless, physical, fast football the entire game."


In seven and a half minutes, Sidney Bales chalked up three rushing touchdowns totaling 117 yards and hit receiver Jacob Reisinger for a five-yard score, giving the Pirates a 38-0 lead after one quarter.

Pomeroy set the running clock going at 11:39 in the second period when Yakama's Denzel Salazar was dropped in the end zone for a safety.

Quarterback Trevin Kimble found Ollie Severs for a 37-yard touchdown pass, then Brodie Magill rumbled five yards for six and a few minutes later a seven-yard run for pay dirt, Jacob Reisinger punched it in from five yards out and Braedon Fruh hustled 35 yards to the goal line and a 78-0 score. Reisinger finished the fourth quarter with a five-yard touchdown.

The Pirates tallied 315 yards of offense, 55 passing and 260 rushing. Yakama's passing attack totaled 40 yards while Pirate defenders stuffed Eagle ballcarriers -89.

Bales gained 117 yards on three carries for three touchdowns. Magill chalked up 58 yards on 10 carries and two scores, and Reisinger gained 10 yards on two rushes with two touchdowns. Fruh got one touch and it was for a 35-yard touchdown.

Trevin Kimble completed two of three passes for 50 yards and two touchdowns. Bales was 100% with one pass for a score.

A long list of Buc defenders touted up 30 touchdowns, Colby Ledgerwood leading with four solo tackles, and Bales, Walker Flynn, Trace Roberts and Reisinger with three each.
