POMEROY–The Garfield County Public Health District board voted Patti Weaver as new member, and passed seven resolutions at their meeting on November 17.

After conducting an interview at the meeting, the board voted Patti Weaver as new member. Weaver comes to the board with experience in nursing and serving on boards. She is currently serving as the 2022 president for the Eastern Washington Agricultural Museum, where she is also a life member, as well as a board member of the Denny Ashby Library. She has volunteered her nursing skills as a registered nurse at the Covid-19 vaccination clinics at the Garfield County Fairgrounds, has been a Garfield County Emergency Medical Technician, and is a hospice nurse in Garfield County. Her past experience relating to public health includes work as a clinical services manager for a co-county hospice care facility that serviced Brent, Adams, and Lincoln Counties, where she was in contact with a demographically and economically diverse range of clients.

The board passed resolution 2022-23, a six-month probation raise of 10% for an employee and resolution 2022-24, an amendment to the consolidated contract with the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) that decreases the total contract dollars by $90,470 to total $2,146,549. The decrease is in the form of Foundation of Public Health Services funds that were not used before the July 2022 expiration date and have been returned. FPHS has sent a further $140,000. The board also passed resolution 2022-25, the 2022-2023 school nursing contract with the Washington State Educational Service District for Pomeroy and Starbuck school districts. The contract is valid for the time of August of 2022 to June of 2023.

Resolution 2022-26 approves the 2023 contract with Aging and Long Term Care for the Stay Active and Independent for Life program that has been offered at the Senior Center. The 2022 program was reported as a success. The contract is for $4,000 and is valid from January 1 to December 31 of 2023. Resolution 2022-27 is a 2022 budget amendment that accounts for the additional money from the FHPS.

Resolution 2022-28 contracts with Jennifer Douglas of Douglas Law LLC in Clarkston for attorney services, and the final resolution passed at the meeting, resolution 2022-29, which is an amendment to their current contract with the American Dental Health Association, expected to provide $12,000 to $15,000.

Administrator Martha Lanman announced that the DOH is planning a site-visit before the holidays.
