POMEROY–The Garfield County Public Health District board passed several resolutions, including their 2023 budget, and discussed an ending grant as well as a new logo at their meeting on December 19.

Resolution 2022-31 passed the Health District’s budget for 2023. It is very similar to 2022’s budget, with adjustments in the wage budget to reflect changes made by Garfield County.

Resolution 2022-30 is an amendment to the Solid Waste Grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology that changes the maximum amount from $10,000 to $1,640 due to inactivity. The funds are specifically for dumpsite investigation.

Resolution 2022-32 converts the position of Program Coordinator from an hourly pay schedule to a salaried one. The position had been salaried prior to being on an hourly pay schedule and the salaried option is still in the computer system, so the transition of paperwork is expected to be simple.

Resolution 2022-33 is an amendment to the Administrator’s contract, raising the maximum number of hours that can be worked from 16 to 20 per week.

The District board discussed a Blue Mountain Community Fund dental grant that is expiring soon. The District will use the opportunity to stock up on a year’s worth of solid dental supplies before the grant expires at the end of the year. The supplies will be given out throughout 2023, as well as being given to students at Pomeroy School District during February of 2023 for National Children’s Dental Health Month.

The district will also have a new logo, beginning in the new year, that will include their changed name.
