POMEROY–The East Washington spotted a story reported by KLEW Keith Havens, highlighting, Katie Boyer, a Pomeroy High School senior, as this week's CCI Speer "Academic All-Star" pick. Here is his interview with Boyer.

"This week's CCI Speer "Academic All-Star" is Katie Boyer a senior at Pomeroy High School.

Katie Boyer is a 4.0 senior who is on her way to being the class valedictorian. Katie loves a good challenge especially with her favorite class.

"My favorite class is chemistry," said Katie. "It's one of the most challenging classes here that I really enjoy the challenge. And the class is more tailored to what I want to do in the future."

Katie teaches Sunday School at the Pomeroy Nazarene Church, a member of Pirate Partners Youth Coalition, the National Honor Society President, and FFA treasurer. She has been the student body treasurer for four-years, how did that happen?

"No one really applied, and I was a freshman when I applied so I have had it for all four years," replied Katie.

Katie also finds time for sports saying, "I play volleyball and track and field. And in track & field I do pole vault and running events."

Katie has big plans after high school. "Then I will be attending Washington State University to major in biology," she said...

...After graduating from WSU, Katie plans to move on to medical school to become either a pediatrician or a sports medicine doctor.
