Seconds earlier, Pirate Jett Slusser (not pictured) swiped the ball from Oakesdale and hefted an arcing pass to breaking Trevin Kimble, who went up for this clean solo lay up in the waning minutes of a game to make it an 11-point lead, 39-28. Trailing the play is Brodie Magill (24). Kimble scored 27, made five rebounds and had three assists and steals in the game.

DAYTON–Pirate basketball fans got their money's worth from the Buccaneer Five as the team battled to stay alive in the District 9 tournament against first Tekoa-Rosalia, then Oakesdale, winning both to move on to play-in games in the WIAA State Tournament Opening Round, which started prior to this edition's press time, Tuesday, Feb. 21, with the Pirates taking on Muckleshoot Tribal School on...
