Grant Morgan resigns as interim county engineer

March 9, 2023

POMEROY-The Garfield County board of commissioners (BOCC) discussed filling the county engineer position, met a new Sheriff’s deputy, and approved an intergovernmental salary at their meeting on March 6.

Grant Morgan has resigned from the position of interim Engineer, leaving Garfield County without a person to fill the position. Advice will be obtained from the Washington State County Road Administration Board (CRABoard) as to the best way to operate until the position of Engineer can be filled.

John Velikodnyy, a new recruit to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, met the commissioners. He was sworn in later that day and will soon attend the police academy.

The commissioners approved apportioning the salary of the superior court administrator, who serves Columbia, Asotin, and Garfield Counties, based upon the population and case load basis of the counties, the same basis used last year. Garfield County’s portion is approximately 8%.

The BOCC passed resolution 2023-04, confirming inventory lists received from department heads, as well as resolution 2023-05, amending the salary and wage schedule of the superior court judge due to changes in the assessed value of Garfield County. The change does not affect the total amount of the salary and wage schedule, only the proportion of the funds paid from Columbia, Asotin, and Garfield Counties.

Also passed was resolution 2023-06, amending the Garfield County public record fee schedule by adding electronic documents and fixing a typographical error.
