POMEROY–The Port of Garfield County commissioners accepted terms of a lease, authorized potential acceptance of a capital improvement bid, and approved a change order at their meeting on March 7.

The Port has been negotiating with the United States Forest Service for a lease renewal of the Port’s shop building. The commissioners accepted terms of $1,500 per month, firm for five years. If the lease is maintained for over 10 years, the price will go up $5 per square foot. The shop roof and doors will need to be replaced in the future, but any other projects will fall under tenant improvement.

Bidding is currently open for the upstairs kitchen remodel in the USFS building. The cost will be under the capital improvement line in the budget, with funds already allocated for it. The commissioners authorized Port Manager Diana Ruchert to accept a low bid if it amounted to $9,000 or less.

The commissioners approved a change order of $6,398.47, for schematic fiber connection repairs to the Pomeroy fiber internet system at 5th Street and Main. The fiber cabinet in Pataha passed inspection and is ready for Pacific Power & Light to connect it.
