Washington, welcome to California styled policies. Over the past few years, Gov. Jay Inslee has signed SB5811 requiring Washington to adopt California motor vehicle emissions standards; the Washington Department of Ecology proposed following California's example of banning the sale of new, gas-powered vehicles in our state by 2035; California ban natural gas in new construction of which Democrats in our state passed HB 1589 banning natural gas in new construction and commercial buildings; and our legislation has passed the cap-and-trade bill; and the SB 5126 the Climate Commitment Act. California policies are too expensive for Washington State.
