4-H Corner

February 13, 2020

POMEROY–Garfield County 4-H Livestock Club held their February meeting at the Fairgrounds on Sunday February 9. There were 13 members and three leaders present.

We discussed that we have two members and one leader going to the Final Drive Show Clinic in Spokane on February 16.

Our Judging Basket for the Spokane Junior Livestock Show benefit auction will be delivered this week to them for the auction on February 22.

We have a few members interested in judging at the Asotin County Fair on April 24, and parents who are willing to volunteer to take us. We will be discussing this in more detail at the next meeting.

Other upcoming events are the Beef and Swine Field days in March, Fairgrounds cleanup on March 25 for Garfield County Spring Preview Jackpot on April 4, and Spokane Junior Livestock Show is May 5 through the 9.

We practiced Livestock Judging with Flashcards, all those that attended agreed this was a fun way to learn about judging.

An announcement was made that the club was approved for fundraiser with Happy Day. Members will have Happy Day coupon books for sale as a club fundraiser May 1. Plans for distributing them to members will be completed at the next meeting.

The next meeting is scheduled at the fairgrounds on March 8 at 4:30 p.m.
