There never was a fairer rose than Kevin Leslie Lassiter, son of Richard Lassiter and Kellie Longatti with Lean Clayton as supporter, on the "Cleaning up an Island" senior project. This entailed weeding the center rose garden area on Columbia street, and spiffing up the seating area.

By Kevin Leslie Lassiter

The project consisted of weeding the rows of rose bushes and repainting the bench that resides on the property, this is located at the end of Columbia street near the Colman Oil gas station. Lean Clayton (The properties gardener) requested that I remove the plastic barrier in the rows in addition to the weeding. The weeding took the longest because not only did I have to work around the weather, for the longest time I weeded the rows in one of the slowest ways possible. It wasn't until I was on my final row that I learned how to weed quickly and effectively. As for the bench It didn't take long to finish it, all it took was scraping off the moss and peeling paint, sanding it down, priming it, then finally painting it white. I am the only member in my group because I moved to Pomeroy during the summer, so not only did I know nobody in school I dint know what I was going to do for a senior project. Luckily for me my, sister's friend who lives near the property, she suggested that I clean up the property, and because I didn't have very many options, I took it. Despite being by myself on the project and having to dance around the weather I was able to complete the project just in time. In summary, I was asked to remove the plastic barrier as well as the weed, I also repainted the bench that resides on the property this took about 6 months total to fully complete as I was by myself and I was weeding wrong.
