Summer Youth Reading Program Underway

June 25, 2020

This summer escape into a good book and join Denny Ashby Library's summer reading program: Imagine Your Story. Registration began Monday, June 22 and the program will run through August 27. Registration can be done by downloading a form from the library's Facebook page or through curbside service.

To participate, children who are pre-readers through incoming sixth graders set a goal for the number of books they plan to read (or have read to them) during the 10 weeks of summer vacation. Small prizes are awarded as progress is made toward reading goals. Those who complete their goals get a coupon for an ice-cream cone at Meyers and the opportunity to choose a book for the library's collection. A bookplate is placed inside honoring their reading efforts. Stay tuned for two virtual programs with Charles the Clown in July.

The library is also offering teen and adult summer reading programs this year. Participants play "Imagine Your Story Bingo" for a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card. Four will be given away: two for teens, two for adults. Complete three squares in a row for one entry into prize drawing or complete all the Bingo squares for triple entry!

Until guidelines for libraries in Phase 3 are published, the library remains closed to the public but is offering curbside service and online resources.
