Dixon named SBLive 1B Senior Athlete of the year

Maddy Dixon, P.H.S. basketball standout, has been named SBLive' 1B State Player of the Year. Dixon is headed to the University of Providence on a basketball scholarship.
POMEROY–High School graduate Maddy Dixon has signed to play basketball at the University of Providence in Montana. In addition, she was named Score Book Live's Senior Girl Athlete of the Year in 1B and voted the 1B Southeast player of the year in volleyball and basketball.
Dixon was also selected as an all-state first team performer in volleyball with a totaled 368 kills and 204 blocks as a middle blocker, and led the Pirates to their fourth state championship with a sweep of Oakesdale. In basketball, Dixon averaged 18.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, and helped Pomeroy to a third-place showing at the 1B championships.
During her high school sports career, she played in five state championship games at Pomeroy; three in volleyball (2016, 2017 and 2019) and two in basketball (2018, 2019). Her teams posted eight top-three state showings. She finished with 1,430 points, 936 rebounds, 150 assists, 182 steals and 152 blocked shots for her basketball career. Dixon was an All-B Southeast selection all four seasons in basketball and volleyball–honorable mention as ninth grader–and first team her final three seasons in both sports.
In basketball, she was voted to the Associated Press all-state team in her final three seasons–honorable mention as a sophomore, and first team as a junior and senior.
Dixon was voted to the WSVCA all-state team twice–honorable mention as a junior, and first team as a senior.
Not a WIAA-sanctioned sport, but Dixon has shown livestock since the third grade, winning a Grand Champion Award.
Dixon achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.58 and was a three–year member of the National Honor Society. She participated as a member in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) for four years, serving as chapter president in her junior and senior years, and competed in FFA public-speaking competitions placing second as a sophomore and junior. Dixon also represented her class as vice president as a ninth grader and class president her sophomore, junior and senior years.
