A Teen's Take

POMEROY–Recently, my mom’s store, The Pirate Pit-Stop, was broken into. To get in, these vandals ripped the front doors out of its frame. What a surprise that was for me, and my mom, too.

It’s weird to see bad things happen in a little town like Pomeroy. Everyone I talk to or speaks of our community says we are so sheltered and nothing bad ever happens. That is true for the most part, but it seems our towns and cities have seen massive displays of lawlessness. But it is still strange to see such things happen in this community, especially when everyone knows each other. It’s just weird to think about the fact that it could’ve been someone you know.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not one of those people who thinks there is no bad in the world and everything is super great all the time. In reality, as I learn about outside my sweet little hometown, I discover that’s not how the world works.

Fortunately, our town has a great Sheriff’s department who will get to the bottom of this thing and make this community safe again. I know what has happened to The Pirate Pit-Stop will make everyone more alert to their surroundings and report unusual things.

I hope everyone is tolerating this hot weather and the new guidelines set by the state. Have a wonderful week everyone!
