The Rattlesnake Fire 20 miles south of Pomeroy is still burning within its 400-acre radius, with two recent ignition sites. Fire fighters are still accessing the burn area and use air support to manage the fire.

POMEROY–The Ranger District here has reported two new ignitions on Tuesday, August 25. Firefighters staffed both fires at less than a quarter of an acre in size. The Rattlesnake Fire had minimal spread and is still estimated at five acres. The fire is located 20 miles south of Pomeroy in rugged terrain. Access to this fire is limited due to flood damage within the Tucannon watershed. Firefighters were able to monitor the fire yesterday while they continue to work on safely gaining access into the fire.

Hot conditions are expected to continue through the week with some increasing winds Monday. Fire danger remains HIGH and public use restriction for chainsaws are in effect.
