Letters to the Editor

To the editor,

I am writing in support of G. Scott Marinella for the position of Superior Court Judge.

I am a Superior Court Judge in Spokane County, having served in this position for 16 years. Before that I served as a District Court Judge for 6 years. I am a 40-year member of the Washington State Bar. I have known Scott for over 36 years, first meeting him as we began our careers in the law. I have worked with him as a lawyer and then again on various boards and committees when we were the Presidents of our respective Judicial Associations.

Scott has the experience to do the job of a Superior Court Judge today. He has practiced law for 36 years, been a prosecutor for 14 years, and a District Court Judge and Superior Court Commissioner for 18 years. He knows the work and can do it on the first day and every day he is on the bench. Scott brings not only a wealth of experience to the position, but also integrity, common sense, and a work ethic to everything he does.

The citizens of this Judicial District will be well served by electing G. Scott Marinella to the position of Superior Court Judge. Please consider him when you go to mark your ballots this fall. It is appreciated.

To the editor,

As many of us know, Jim Nelson is running for Garfield County Commissioner, “with a focus on our future.” I would like to join the many community members that clearly present a vote of confidence towards Jim’s goals. Jim loves this community and presents the kind of ethical character and multiple, flexible skills that we want in a Garfield County Commissioner.

For more than six years, I have had the honor and pleasure of working with Jim Nelson on numerous community projects. I have been one of many, that have been a grateful recipient of Jim Nelson’s positive personality and congenial, social skills. Jim has always loved the outdoors and has shared that love with the youth of this community. During Jim’s career of being a Police Officer in Moscow, Idaho, then moving to Pomeroy to serve as a Washington State Fish and Wildlife Officer, he received awards for his outstanding performance. Jim, continues to serve as a Garfield County Deputy Sheriff and a School Resource Officer for the Pomeroy School District, presenting outstanding work performance, with compassionate and professional care towards the students. Jim has a good heart and is a devoted family man. Jim and his wife, Sue raised their daughter in Pomeroy, Washington. Jim is a man of faith, understanding and practicing the biblical, behavioral, strengths of humility and humbleness, that effectively service others.

Jim Nelson has clearly shown that he has excellent verbal, listening, communication skills. Jim’s commendable character, extensive experience, coupled with his detailed preparation and research skills, qualify Jim Nelson to be an excellent Garfield County Commissioner, with a focus on our future, healthy, prosperous opportunities.

C. Tom Millspaugh
